Simple past tense
Please write five sentences using simple past tense verbs. Two of the sentences must be with irregular verbs. Thanks and really looking forward to your input.
When I went to Los Angeles I swam in the Venice beach! On New Years party I drank a little bit. I took some gifts to my parents from Brazil. I think all the brazilians had a good time to vacation. I can't chose the wrong way.
Sentence one starts out good but you can't swim in a beach. While you were at Venice beach you swam in the ocean.
Sentence two you need to replace On with "AT a" Monday in class we will talk about this in more detail.
Sentence 3 needs to be clarified. You are fine and could have stopped when you you had parents. I took some gifts to my parents. Would have been fine but when you add from Brazil we are not sure which one if from Brazil the gifts or your parents.
Sentence 4 is good but Brazilian should be capitalized.
Sentence 5 is okay but you would probably hear people say " I can't afford to make the wrong choice/decision.
I really like that you tried several different types of sentences. Good job.
I wrote some words in my book to show my feelings. When i was a little boy, i went to Salvador. My girlfriend brokem with me yesterday. Someday i was at the story when the cops told me to take care when i go home.
Andre, sentence one is good. Sentence two is okay but, the i should be capitalized like this one I. Sentence three, broke up is the correct form you want to use here. Broken refers to something that is in pieces. Even if your relationship is now in pieces we say broke up not broken. Your fourth sentence would read better like this, One day I was at the store and the cops told me to take care when I go home. I was thinking went possibly instead of go but the more I look at it and read it, it is okay.
